The United Kenyans Association of Alberta (UKAA) is a community-based organization committed to uniting and empowering Kenyans across Alberta. Established to foster inclusivity, accountability, and cultural pride, UKAA serves as a platform for social connection, cultural preservation, and community advancement. Through events, programs, and partnerships, we celebrate our Kenyan heritage, support the well-being and success of our members, and contribute meaningfully to the diverse fabric of Canadian society. Mission
Our mission is to unite Kenyans across Alberta through inclusive leadership, cultural preservation, and community-driven initiatives. We aim to empower individuals and families, foster a sense of belonging, and promote positive contributions to both the Kenyan diaspora and the broader Canadian society.
Programs
Our programs are designed to empower the Kenyan community in Alberta through cultural celebration, youth development, community support, and meaningful engagement.
Kenyan Heritage & Culture Program
A year-round initiative that celebrates and preserves Kenyan traditions, including language workshops (e.g., Kiswahili and native dialects), traditional music and dance, storytelling, culinary events, and intergenerational cultural exchange.
Main goals: Cultural preservation, traditional arts, Kenyan pride.
Youth Mentorship & Leadership Program
Aimed at supporting Kenyan youth in Alberta through career guidance, academic support, leadership training, and mentorship by successful professionals in the community.
Main goals: Youth mentorship, leadership, immigrant success stories, empowerment.
Community Wellness & Support Network
A program offering wellness workshops, mental health awareness, family support, and referrals to essential services for new immigrants and community members in need.
Main goals: Community wellness, family support networks, social cohesion, inclusivity.
Diaspora Dialogue Series
An ongoing discussion forum and speaker series that addresses identity, migration, dual heritage, integration challenges, and civic participation. Includes panel discussions, storytelling nights, and cross-cultural exchange.

Annual Kenyan Cultural Festival
Workshops and networking events focused on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, career advancement, and job readiness tailored for the Kenyan-Canadian community.

Economic Empowerment & Skills Development Program
Workshops and networking events focused on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, career advancement, and job readiness tailored for the Kenyan-Canadian community.
